Battery Storage Course Content
Cost effective energy storage has long been seen as the key to unlocking the full potential of renewable energy.
Today, the world is experiencing dramatic change in the power sector including rapid accelerating in the pace of deployment for utility scale energy storage. This trend is a result of declining costs in storage technology and an increasing need for storage more intermittent renewable generation is being added to the grid.
Infrastructure developers and investors are making their first forays into battery storage projects. This trend will continue as storage becomes an increasingly important piece of the energy landscape.
If you work in power or renewable energy you will eventually need to have a deep understanding of the fundamental drivers and concepts related to battery energy storage.
The online course will cover a range of topics related to battery storage including energy markets fundamentals, types of battery storage, the uses of storage capacity, battery terminology, the economics behind batteries, and the risks associated with the storage investments.
The online course includes a simple standalone downloadable financial model for demonstration purposes. The financial model is provided as additional detail to illustrate how the concepts become real through a set of numbers. Whilst we do not build a model from scratch, we present a battery model and talk about the inputs, calculations, and necessary considerations of a battery model . The model forecasts cash flows for 10 years on an annual basis, meaning each column of the model represents one year. The objective in this course is to orientate you with a model and to set you up to run your own sensitivities and scenarios to evaluate battery storage investments. You will use your download of the model to change inputs and to assess the impact on returns.
Our live streaming public course is a full day and is more detailed in terms of modeling and sensitivity analysis than the online course. The objective of the public course is to provide attendees with an understanding of operations, financial products, and market structures specific to battery storage. They will learn to analyze a financial model for a battery storage transaction within the infrastructure, power, or renewable energy sectors.
The course will teach participants concepts relating to energy markets including
