Climate Week – Thoughts in my Head Check out Haydn’s latest blog on some topics he has been focusing on. This includes lowering energy costs and reducing CO2 emissions – with a focus on Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). In addition to being a founder at Pivotal180, Haydn is on the Advisory Board of a company called Grimes Carbontech (GCT). GCT is planning to produce cheap green hydrogen and SAF. They are also raising capital ($50k check size minimum). If you are interested – reach out to them directly at info@grimescarbontech.com. |

Transferability has massively expanded options for renewable energy investors to efficiently monetize tax credits, and that’s meant big changes for tax equity financing. Pivotal180 is updating our online training programs with new content to ensure students know the ins and outs of these new financing options. |
A Simpler Approach to P50/P99 Sizing Modeling Many beginning modelers spend a great deal of time replicating operational calculations in their models to enable debt sizing under multiple production scenarios. A well-designed scenario manager and data table can be used to do this more efficiently and with less likelihood of errors! |
Prevailing Wage and Apprenticeship Requirements The Inflation Reduction Act has brought a number of changes to the structure and value of tax credits for renewable energy projects in the U.S. Most notably, projects must now comply with prevailing wage and apprenticeship rules in order to receive the full value of their tax credits. PIvotal180 has updated the tax credit lessons in our online courses to reflect the IRA’s changes, and we were fortunate to get Norton Rose Fulbright Partner and energy tax master David Burton to give us a hand. |
Project Finance for Mining and Critical Minerals Mining is inextricably linked to renewable energy and infrastructure assets. This applies to the volumes of critical minerals feeding the build-out of projects, but there is also a clear connection from a project finance modeling perspective. Pivotal180 is developing content to highlight financing structures and risks with mining projects. Watch this space! |
