Team News

Fiona Wilson

We are pleased to introduce you to Fiona who is working with us to create more content material for all our courses and is the lead on our new interview series.

Fiona is a renewable energy professional with over a decade of experience, most recently serving as Associate Director at the Clinton Foundation’s Islands Energy Program, supporting island nations’ renewable energy transition.  Her work has focused on project finance and IPP development, initially from a private sector perspective at an environmental finance firm, and more recently in government advisory, supporting public sector stakeholders in de-risking energy projects and ensuring project bankability. She has significant experience developing and executing energy projects across a range of technologies, including land-mounted and rooftop solar PV, floating solar PV, biogas, and biomass. Her favorite Excel shortcut is Ctrl +F4.

What is News

Inflation Reduction Act (IRA)

The Inflation Reduction Act arrived unexpectedly, but in the view of most participants in this sector, it was a pleasant(ish) surprise. The best thing undoubtedly from the Act is that we have some transparency as to what the future holds with respect to tax credits. Gone (for a while at least) is the nervous wait at the end of the year to see what is in store for the following year or two.

However, as with all sudden changes in law, there is a lot to unpack and to consider. For example:

  1. Where do the new investment opportunities lie?
  2. How will this impact the number of investors in the sector?
  3. Do we still need tax equity?
  4. What do the provisions in the Act mean? When will the IRS provide clarification?

Luckily for you we have been (and will continue) creating content specific to these topics. The first blogs highlighting key changes from the Inflation Reduction Act and impacts on Green Hydrogen are on our website. We publish these regularly via LinkedIn so please follow us.

We are also in the process of updating our tax material in our renewable energy and tax equity courses to reflect the changes.

Exciting times ahead!
